Data Sources
Where our figures come from, how current they are, and the limits of what we can publish.
Last updated
Our sourcing standard
No figure appears on this website without a source, a timestamp and an explicit statement of how current it is. Every data point we publish is labelled as live, delayed, end-of-day, or as at a stated date.
This is a deliberate constraint built into the platform itself: our market data components cannot render a value that does not carry its provenance.
Primary sources
Our economic and market data is drawn from:
- Bank of Ghana — monetary policy, Treasury auction results, exchange rates, reserves and banking sector data
- Ghana Statistical Service — Consumer Price Index, national accounts and labour statistics
- Ghana Stock Exchange — index levels, trading data and listed company disclosures
- Ministry of Finance, Ghana — fiscal data and budget documentation
- International Monetary Fund — Article IV documentation, programme reviews and regional outlooks
- World Bank — commodity prices and country economic updates
- Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) — global macroeconomic and market series
- European Central Bank reference rates — foreign exchange
A limitation we state openly
Ghanaian official statistics are generally published as documents rather than as machine-readable feeds, at irregular intervals, and are sometimes revised without notice.
We therefore record these series from the published source on a known date and label them accordingly. They are not live market prices, and we do not present them as such. Readers should verify any figure against the original publication before relying on it for a decision.
Revisions
Statistical agencies revise published data. Where a source revises a figure, our series is updated and the revision date recorded. Research published before a revision reflects the data available at the time of writing.
Licensing
All external data is used in compliance with the licensing and redistribution terms of its source. Where a data source restricts redistribution, we present analysis rather than republishing the underlying data.
